The Golden Lion’s Beer Festival is back! From Tuesday the 25th of September to Monday the 1st of October, 11AM till Midnight every day.

Live Music on Sunday with Belinda & The Beltrons. Over 30 Ales plus 8 Real Ciders, here’s what you can expect:

NORTHUMBERLAND. High House Farm Brewery of Matfern.
FEROCIOUS FRED PORTER. An almost black “extra” porter, velvet smooth with a pleasing bitter sweet finish and a thick creamy tan head. Named after the grumpy bull at High House farm. 4.8% ABV.

TYNESIDE. H & B Brewery of Newcastle upon Tyne.
PORTOBELLO BRAG. Extra light, crisp and clean, tangy with a gently hopped punch. A lure for the unwary. 4% ABV.

Bosuns Brewery of Wakefield.

MOCHA STOUT. A smooth creamy stout almost black in colour with an off white head. A faint background of coffee and chocolate makes you come back for more. Moderately bittered and gently hopped makes this stout easy drinking. 4.3% ABV.

Ilkley Brewery.
CROSSROAD IPA. Inspired by Ilkley’s standing as an ancient Roman crossroads, this is a new West Coast IPA. Using a combination of Amarillo, Chinook, Crystal, Southern Cross and Cascade Hops-this beer packs a zesty punch with aromas of Orange rind and citrus peel complimenting big floral notes, flavours of resinous pine and mandarins and a dry, spicy finish.(load of bollocks) A real nod to the West Coast style. 5.4% ABV.

Empire Brewery of Slaithwaite.
ROPETRICK IPA. A pale Amber Double IPA Brewed with Cascade and Chinook Hops.(see that was nice and easy wasn’t it) 5.2% ABV.

ISLE OF MAN. Bushys Brewery of Braddan.
O.M.G.OLD MARKET GROG. A full bodied reddish brown beer full of malty character with a smooth mouth feel. A traditional English hop blend gives it a light bitterness followed by a slight spicy/peppery aroma. Originally brewed for the Old Market Inn at Douglas,but at a lower ABV. 5% ABV.

LANCASHIRE. Lytham Brewery of Lytham St.Annes.
VIPER. A light golden beer brewed with light malts to give a smooth rounded ale,packed with aromatic hops to give a floral finish. 5.6% ABV.

WALES. Big Hand Brewery of Wrexham.
PALEWULF. A straw coloured pale ale with a soft bitterness that allows the exotic fruitiness to shine in this luscious ale. 4.2% ABV.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE. Lincoln Green Brewery of Hucknall.
BOWMAN. Our American golden pale ale which has a slightly malty taste with a spicy finish. 4.3% ABV.

STAFFORDSHIRE. Burton Bridge Brewery of Burton on Trent.
BRIDGE BITTER. A traditional brown bitter with a distinctive dry hop aroma and a fruity background. 4.2% ABV.

STAFFORDSHIRE. Titanic Brewery of Burslem on Trent.
WHITE STAR. A light refreshing distinctively hoppy beer with a freshness that hides its strength, so easy to drink it will fool most sea dogs.4.5% ABV.

DEATH OR GLORY. Strong dark porter style beer. Its strength is hidden by its easytodrinkabilityness, so be careful. This beer is a large favourite in this pub however it could restrict your ability for coherent speech and increase your chances of talking bollocks. 7.2% ABV.

SUFFOLK. Greene King Brewery of Bury St.Edmunds.
ABBOT CONFESSION. Powerful rich and warming, late hopping gives this special beer a full flavour, completed by a superb balance. Not too much or you may lose yours.(brewed exclusively for Wetherspoons, well up yours Wetherspoons, we got one) 8.5% ABV.

Nethergate. Brewery of Sudbury.
ESSEX BEAST. A fine blend of pale, chocolate and dark crystal malts are used to brew this gargantuan porter. Aromas of toffee, the palate is full and complex, with a spic ey hoppiness. Please handle with care. 6.2% ABV.

OXFORDSHIRE. Loddon Brewery of Dunsden.
FERRYMAN’S GOLD. Golden, smooth, aromatic and zesty. Bewered using Slovenian Stryian Golding hops which impart a zesty Lime flavour. A mix of Caramalt and wheat malt give a smooth, creamy body to the beer and brings out the hint of bicycle inner tube in the finish.(sorry got bored) 4.4% ABV.

EAST LONDON. Bexley Brewery.
REDHOUSE. Deep copper colour, combining caramel and biscuit to produce a full flavoured taste with a hint of toffee and soft fruits. 4.2% ABV.

WILTSHIRE. Three Castle Brewery of Pewsey.
GATEHOUSE. Brown session ale, hoppy and subtley sweet. 3.8% ABV.

KENT. Wantsum Brewery of Hersden.
MONTGOMERY. Named after the ammunition ship that sank off Sheerness. SIBA National Champion Best Bittter 2017.Explosive (please) amber best bitter with exclusively American hops. 4% ABV.

SOMERSET. Cotleigh Brewery of Wiveliscombe.
LEMON BREW. A light golden colour, flavoured with a light infusion of New Zealand Pacific Jade hops which gives a zesty lemon flavour. 4.3% ABV.

DEVON. Hanlons Brewery of Half Moon.
HANLONS IPA. This is a light golden IPA. Caramel flavours with tropical fruits and zesty hops. 4% ABV.

Exe Valley Brewery of Silverton.
AUTUMN GLORY. A well rounded beer with a rich ruby colour. 4.5% ABV.

Colchester Brewery.

JACK SPITTY. Golden easy drinking blonde ale, full of hoppy flavours with a delicate bitterness. 4.1% ABV.

Billericay Brewery.
SEX AND DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL. Three U.S.hops are added in the brewing process to give a fruity ale that’s very drinkable. 5% ABV.

Keppels Brewery.
ONE OF THOSE DAYS. Strong stout which is just too easy to driink,every time we made it the day seemed to drag.A firm favourite in the-Golden Lion, if you are not there on the right days you miss it. 6.8% ABV.
LIONS KINGDOM. Brewed in collaboration with the Golden Lion,we asked and Dan and Mike’s a strong Belgian style golden ale brewed using Abbaye yeast in a dual fermentation process,resulting in complex floral tones.As yet I have only tried it out of the bottle (wow!) cant wait for the 25th of September to try it from the cask. 10% ABV.

Brentwood Brewery.
MARVELLOUS MAPLE MILD. This delicate dark mild has just a hint of Maple Syrup which comes through in its smooth finish. 3.7% ABV.

Farmer’s Ales.
GOLDEN BOAR. Deep golden hoppy finish,everything you could wish for from this multi-award winning beer. 5% ABV.

IMPERIAL STOUT. Full bodied malty dark Imperial stout. 9% ABV. STOATY Mc.MILK SHAKE. Sweet Vanilla Milk Stout. 5.3% ABV.

Witham Brewery.
SCRUFFY MILD. A superb dark mild with fruity flavours,which has a satisfying bitterness. 3.8% ABV.
